Latvians are developing board game novuss in the UK

Novuss, a game brought to Latvia by sailors from England nearly a century ago, has become a beloved sport worldwide, with passionate players in many countries. Novuss is rapidly developing in the UK, and as the game grows, so does the skill level of its players. The increasing number of clubs and tournaments provides more opportunities for players to improve, compete, and showcase their talents. This growing community of players and events contributes to the overall development of Novuss as a sport in the UK, raising the level of competition and attracting new participants to the game.

The Novuss Federation of the United Kingdom, founded in 2009 by Uldis Rumjancevs, has played a crucial role in promoting the game across the UK. In 2022, the leadership was passed to Andris Sudmalis, Kaspars Tormanis, Raivis Mieriņš, Elīna Balode and Uldis Balodis. Together they officially registered the Federation as a legitimate company.

The UK Novuss Tournament scene for the 2023-2024 season rating points saw fierce competition, with Māris Eglītis and Kaspars Tormanis tying for the top spot on the leaderboard, and Andris Sudmalis securing third place. The tournaments in this period attracted 63 participants, and with the Federation's ongoing efforts, a larger turnout is expected this year.

The Novuss Federation has released the following tournament calendar for 2025:
